4 Disk Necklace

The mom of one of my daughter's classmates saw my four disk necklace in my store, and came up with this idea for herself. Great idea!

How About Four?

I had a request to do a four disk necklace. Hey why not? This particular necklace is stamped with the names of horses. Who says babies can't be furry?

These disks are stamped with smaller letters than the ones I usually use. I think I may have to start using them more. I like how they look.

Etsy Artist of the Week

I've been pretty bad about keeping up on this blog. Really, it shouldn't be that difficult. I add at least one shop to my "favorites" list every day, so I want to share some of them with you.

The Intuitive Garden is one of the first shops I found on etsy.

Here's a little bit from the artist:

Through what I would consider to be a sort of “mindful doodling,” I create digital illustrations and drawings inspired by nature and organic shapes. In addition to drawing, I also have a passion for taking photos and often incorporate my original photographs into my work.

I carefully and thoughtfully handcraft all the items in my shop. There are many steps in my production process and each piece receives lots of attention before being transplanted to its new home.

You can check out The Intuitive Garden here.

THREE!

There are so many brave souls with more than two kids, I just had to make this. (AND I've already had 2 orders for them). I also bought smaller letters so that more than one name will fit on a disc.

I have more things on order. The possibilities are becoming endless.

Here's my store.

I'm So Excited!!!

I have been wanting to make something like this for quite some time. I've finally gotten the tools and the instruction and I can't wait to make more.

These pendants are made from airplane grade aluminum. A friend of mine built his own plane out of this stuff and has a large sheet still in his garage. It is heavy duty! I cut and shaped the strips, then hand stamped the words onto the strips. The top of the pendant is simply curled around the cord necklace.

The larger pendants can be customized with a word or name of your choice.

You can see more pictures of these pendants and my online shop here.

Take Your Sun With You!

Here's is my latest, greatest creation:

I'm really starting to like making these bracelets. Yes, they do take a while to make, but it's a very calming experience. I sold the bracelet that was the same style as this but with blues and greens. Maybe someone will be in the mood for red?

I've also listed a few other new pieces. It's been a productive couple of weeks for some reason. You can see my other new things here.

Inspiration

On Sunday, my friend and I went to a bead and jewelry show in the big city down the road. It was fun. We saw some great beads and were greatly entertained by other shoppers. I also got to use the one thing I can remember in Chinese, "xie xie", which means thank you. I was then reminded of the way to say, "You're welcome".

Anyhoo, I didn't spend a whole lot, but what I did buy instantly inspired me. I've actually made and listed a few pieces of jewelry this week!

This is my favorite.

I will happily sell this bracelet if an interested buyer comes along. I may also happily wear it until that time!

Who Likes Free Stuff?

Head on over to Alyson's. They are having lots of fun over there. And you can even win stuff.

Etsy Artist of the Week

My Etsy Artist of the Week this week is JaK Random Art and Design.

I absolutely LOVE this cuff. I should probably break down and buy it before someone else does. She does very cool work!

A little bit from the artist:

I create unique, eco-friendly, handmade jewelry.
Made from recycled vinyl records & found materials, each handmade piece of jewelry is a one-of-a-kind, wearable work of art.

The materials used in my art are from recycled or found objects placing an emphasis on the notion that out of decay there is rebirth. This results in one of a kind pieces that are antique-like reflecting the fragile innocence that we imagine existed in past eras.

Destash?

What is destash? It's the newest section in my shop. Think of it as Spring cleaning that benefits others. I have beads and beads and beads. Some that I bought and have used a few of. Some that I've bought and never used.

Now I'm clearing them out. A few beads here and a few beads there... pretty soon I'll have space for more! Wait...that's not right...

Etsy Artist of the Week

This week, my Etsy Artist of the Week is Posh Pretties. She makes the most adorable hair accessories for little girls. I'm amazed at how creative she is and the things she can do with ribbon!

Here's a little bit from the artist:

Although I am new to Etsy, I have been making bows and polymer creation for over a year, and I am also the owner of www.polymerclaygarden.com

For as long as I can remember I have been crafting and creating things. From painting clothes and making my own jewelry and hair accessories as a teen, to making unique items with polymer clay and hair accessories for my own daughter. My styles has changed and evolved over the years, a little more grown up now, but still unique and with my own personal spin on them.

I offer boutique style hair bows, woven ribbon headbands, seasonal hair bows, creative clippies, as well as many adorable polymer clay items, and the new Flutterclay Creations.

All of my items are handmade by me. I take great care and use only high quality ribbon in all of my bows and artist grade polymer clay in my clay items. All layered and loopy bows are hand sewn and all ribbon ends are heat sealed to prevent fraying, even the ends you don't see.

Most items ship within 24 hours of payment.

I love custom orders, convo me for more information.

A Little Something Sparkly

I've had this bracelet in my shop for about a month and a half. I love it! The funny thing is that I almost didn't make it at all.

I started on it around Christmas and got about half way through and something just wasn't doing it for me. I'm still not sure what that something was.

So, as I usually do when I get "beader's block", I just walked away from it and let it sit. When I started up on it again, I changed a few beads around and some sort of magic happened. Now I love it. Like everything in my shop, it has sparkle. Everyone needs some sparkle - daily!

Etsy Artist of the Week

This week I'm featuring Sentimental Journey.

Her shop features handmade cards for all occasions. They are all so pretty, it's hard to pick a favorite. I love the one pictured above. She also has a 5 pack called "Four Weddings and a Funeral", which I think is just too clever.

Here's a little bit from the artist:

I'm a mom of two young children (and currently baking #3) who enjoys creating pretty things! Long winters in Minnesota make it an ideal place to be inside and making things.
I've been making cards for my family and friends for years and received many compliments. Upon the urging of a few, I've decided to sell some of my creations.

Each card is hand-made, and therefore unique. All cards are 5 1/2 x 4 inches folded (unless otherwise noted). All come with an envelope for mailing.

I'd be happy to do custom work if you have a special occasion coming. Please convo me and we can work out the details.

I mean how cool would it be to have custom, handmade cards?! Go show Sentimental Journey some love!

What I Am Most Proud Of

Right now, this is the item I'm most proud of in my shop on etsy. I have always drooled over bracelets like this, but I had never made one. A couple of weeks ago I decided to give it a try. First, I went into my bead "collection" and picked out my favorite beads that had greens and blues as a main color. I LOVE these beads. Each one is so different, and together they look fantastic. The clasp that resembles a sun just adds the perfect touch.

I called this bracelet "Feelin' Beachy" because that's exactly how it made me feel.

Etsy Artist of the Week

Since this is my first "Etsy Artist of the Week", I figured I should start with the person that introduced me to etsy, moondogtreasures.

Moondog is a friend of mine who does incredible work with any material she can get her hands on. Here's a little bit about her and her philosophy:

i am a yoga teacher w/ a penchant for pendants. i sell my designs at a local yoga studio.

i started creating my own jewelry when i realized that i was really picky when it came to the jewelry i wanted to buy and wear.

like most jewelry artists, i made my jewelry just for me. people would compliment me on what i was wearing and i would go home and make the same item for them. that's when i realized i could actually make a business out of this.

i love creating pieces with wire and beads. my favorite colors are ocean and earth colors. last year i started making wire-wrapped crosses. those quickly became my best seller.

i recently learned how to solder, so be on the lookout for new pendants, ornaments, and magnets. i can do custom orders, just let me know what you want.

Go check out moondog's shop and show her some love.

Welcome to Little Shop of Baubles!

I've decided to start up this blog to showcase my love of jewelry and of all things handmade. Back in September, a friend of mine introduced me to etsy.com. It's quite an addictive site. I've been listing jewelry that I've made there ever since.

Go check it out. You can find pretty much anything you can think of there.
